Empowering patients to take the next step forward

Inspired by the longleaf pine, able to endure and recover from fire stronger than before, our organization represents regrowth and strengthening through adversity. At Longleaf, we are elevating standards of care through our people and our practices, as we empower our patients to change and heal. Below you will find an overview of what Longleaf Recovery and Wellness is all about while our complete website experience is currently being developed and is scheduled to launch soon.

Changing the way people view healing and recovery

Just as the longleaf pine is transformed and made more resilient by fire, so too humans are transformed and made more resilient by overcoming situations that have the potential to consume them. Addiction and mental illness are certainly examples of this. Longleaf Recovery & Wellness was created by individuals who have experienced addiction and mental illness and found better lives through treatment and recovery. Now working in the treatment field, they have an intimate understanding of the significant challenges encountered by individuals seeking recovery, created by decades of deficient and rigid treatment programs that rely more on dogma than research and compassion. The leadership team serves with a singular vision to improve how addiction and other mental health disorders are addressed in Alabama and throughout the industry.

This vision was initially realized in July 2021 with the opening of Birmingham Recovery Center. With historically limited options in Alabama, opening a new outpatient program was met with skepticism. However, within just a few months, all expectations were exceeded. With the success of this program established, it became clear the demand for this approach extended beyond Birmingham and addiction, giving rise to Longleaf Recovery & Wellness.

Longleaf Recovery & Wellness is the organization created to carry our vision to additional locations as well as extend the clinical scope of our services. To start, Longleaf Wellness-Birmingham is an outpatient program dedicated specifically to treat primary mental health disorders. Next, Longleaf Recovery-Huntsville and Longleaf Recovery-Baldwin will be additional outpatient programs addressing primary substance use and co-occurring disorders.

We are humbled by the growth of our organization, and we expect this growth to continue to new locations, to new levels of care and clinical services, and move beyond the borders of Alabama. As our organization evolves, we will always be dedicated to providing the highest quality services while treating our clients with compassion and understanding. Finally, we remain inspired by the words that adorn the coins we offer to our graduating clients:

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you’ve imagined.”
