Colin Harris
Chief Executive Officer
Colin Harris, a dedicated advocate for quality addiction treatment, is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Longleaf Recovery and Wellness. With a deeply personal connection to the challenges faced by individuals and families grappling with addiction, Colin’s journey in recovery has fueled his commitment to making a meaningful impact in the field. Recognizing the limited options for substance use treatment in Alabama early in his own recovery journey, Colin became acutely aware of the need for accessible and effective programs. Throughout his twenties, he engaged with various addiction programs across the southeast, encountering both exemplary care and subpar treatment. It is from this firsthand experience that Colin channels a profound passion for quality treatment into his role, overseeing the daily operations of Longleaf Recovery & Wellness. As a native Alabamian, Colin is unwavering in his dedication to developing programs tailored to the unique needs of those in the state who, like him, have struggled with addiction. His vision extends beyond personal triumph to the broader mission of enhancing addiction treatment options and outcomes for individuals and families in Alabama and beyond.
Ian Henyon, LPC
Chief Operating Officer
Having worked in a variety of clinical settings since 2008, Ian brings well over a decade of treatment center experience to the leadership role at Birmingham Recovery Center. As Executive Director, he is responsible for all aspects of BRC’s operations and provision of services. Being firmly grounded in the notion of servant leadership, Ian is focused on establishing a supportive work environment as a foundation for providing superior clinical services to BRC’s clients. Ian combines his extensive knowledge of treating addiction and psychiatric illness with the recognition that addiction is a disorder of the brain, to ensure that all clients are treated with the highest levels of respect and compassion. Ian is a licensed professional counselor. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and he received a Master of Science degree from Prescott College.
John Giannetto
Chief Development Officer
Since beginning his career in 2010, John quickly realized that he had a passion to help people struggling with substance use and mental health disorders. Being a person in long term recovery, he understands the importance of ensuring that each client is placed into the appropriate clinical care to address their unique situation. John brings extensive experience from a variety of treatment programs including roles as program director, intake/admissions, and insurance/finance. This experience allows him to engage patiently with our new clients to understand their treatment needs and resolve any issues that arise prior to admission. As Director of Business Development, he is responsible for building relationships both nationally and locally with other treatment facilities and professionals. These relationships allow our clients to receive the widest breadth of treatment services, whether they might require a program outside of Birmingham or they are returning to the area to continue their recovery. Most importantly, John recognizes how difficult that first call can be, so he takes the time and care necessary to make sure every caller is met with compassion, love, and hope.
Amy Rast, LPC
Chief Clinical Officer
Amy brings a wealth of essential experience in her role as Chief Clinical Officer. Upon completion of her master’s degree, she embarked on a dedicated career in the field of substance use disorders, demonstrating unwavering commitment and expertise. Over the past 14 years, she has garnered extensive experience in both residential and outpatient settings, contributing to the holistic well-being of individuals grappling with addiction. Throughout her journey, she has honed her leadership skills, which has enabled her to guide and inspire fellow professionals. Since the inception of Longleaf Recovery and Wellness, she has held the pivotal role of Clinical Director, steering the clinical aspects of the organization with precision and dedication. In every professional endeavor, she strives to blend empathy with clinical expertise, creating a positive and transformative impact on the lives of those affected by substance use disorders. Amy received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Alabama, and she completed her Masters in Community Agency Counseling at the University of Montevallo.
Dr. Tim Carpenter
Medical Director
Timothy Carpenter is a Mississippi native and received his undergraduate degree at Ole Miss. He graduated from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, and completed his psychiatry residency at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Addiction Medicine.
