Alex is a recent Huntsville transplant, originating from the Metro-Atlanta area of Georgia. She is an alumnus of Jacksonville State University, where she received her undergraduate degree in General Music and her graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Since graduating, she has spent the last 3 years working as an Associate Licensed Counselor at the Intensive Outpatient level of care, providing individual, group, and family services for clients with substance use disorders. Alex utilizes a person-centered approach, pulling techniques from a wide variety of therapeutic modalities, including elements of existential therapy in order to address the existential nature of substance use disorders and best meet each client’s individual needs. Alex is passionate about providing care and education that can empower clients in their recovery and understanding of the disease of addiction. Through genuine curiosity, unconditional positive regard, compassion, and an individualistic approach, she hopes to aid in the dissolution of societal stigma about substance use disorders and promote healing for the individuals that are affected.
